Alright, my sister and I never really saw eye to eye on music, probably because of our four year age gap. Anyway, when I was back home, we found a common love for mixtapes and she told me I had to hear this MC WIZ KHALIFA. Immediately I thought it was stupid based on his name and the way she said it but eventually, I decided to download BURN AFTER ROLLING and wow, I am an idiot for sleeping on this tape until Christmas. Also incredibly jealous that my sister got to see him and YELAWOLF in New York City on a recent trip.
WIZ KHALIFA is one the best young MCs coming up right now and the fact that he usually spits about weed, I'm a big fan. His rhymes are so smooth and they blend in seamlessly into a lot of major beats, which makes these tracks all classics. Favourite track on this tape is definitely ODE TO NAKED POP STARS, dedicated to the CASSIE and RIHANNA n00dz of last year over DRAKE's BEST I EVER HAD. Must hear. Also, amazing album art, probably one of the best of all time.

This is a must have tape from 2009. LUPE FIASCO, probably the most underrated MC in the world dishes out gem after gem on this tape. FFS, the first track he's rapping over RADIOHEAD and as weird as that sounds, it's so smooth you'd never know it wasn't his beat. There's even a Street Fighter drop (shoutout to DHALSIM!). No DJ drops other than the odd Enemy Of The State line and not one filler track, mixtape flows so smooth you'll have it on repeat for days.

Fresh off probably the best mixtape of 2009 (HOW FLY collabo feat. WIZ KHALIFA) is the Hot Spitta CURREN$Y dropping SMOKEE ROBINSON. The former LIL' WAYNE protégé continues his domination of the stoner rap circuit with tons of dope lines on this tape. Another plus is that producer DJ DON CANNON actually doesn't ruin this tape like he has in the past with his overuse of his drops.
